The Leadburn Inn, Midlothian

In 2008 Jefcoate Anderson Architects were appointed by D&A Leisure to undertake the detailed design for the new Leadburn Inn to replace the original 228 year building, a well known landmark destroyed by fire in 2005.

In planning terms the proposals were particularly sensitive due to the prominence and history of the site. The design draws on the local vernacular of the area and the scale and massing of the original building.

The new building consists of the following accommodation;

Bar and Restaurant
Children’s soft play centre.
Manager’s flat at first floor level

Jefcoate Anderson Architect’s services were retained for the duration of the construction to provide continued technical support.

Construction was completed in early January 2010 with the premises opening later that month.
